ELECTROSTIMULATION OF PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES

Electrostimulation of pelvic floor muscles is a method of treatment of urinary incontinence, at which we administer a small quantity of electric current with a precalculated frequency  and intensity, to the pelvic floor musculature.

This way we achieve two main aims:

a. the strengthening of pelvic floor muscles

b. improvement of patient's realization of the position and function of  pelvic floor muscles

This method is useful in patients suffering from:

1. Stress Urinary Incontinence

2. Urge Urinary Incontinence

3. Dyspareunia

4. Difficulty in the urination

5. Interstitial cystitis

6. Dysmenorrhoea

7. Chronic Prostatitis

The Electrostimulation of pelvic floor muscles is possible with with the help of a special device , and from the specifically trained Doctor or other provider. For the excitation is used a specifically modified electric current (which of course is harmless), electrodes , or for female use vaginal cones

Electrostimulation of pelvic floor muscles is a good method for the conservative treatment of the aforementioned diseases, and has as a prerequisite a motivated patient, and a “team approach” between doctor and patient.
