The urodynamic examination is of
fundamental importance for the diagnosis not only of
the diseases that are related to with the Chronic
Pelvic Pain Syndrome, but also for the functional
diseases of urogenital system in general.
In the Center of Chronic Pelvic
Pain there is Urodynamic and
Neurophysiology laboratory
for the complete investigation of lower urogenital
system.
The urodynamic examination lasts 10
to 20 minutes, is actually painless and thus the need of
anaesthesia is avoided.
After the completion of
examination we receive a trace recording, example of
which we see here.
These data can be very helpful in
diagnosing a wide spectrum of urogenital diseases:
In men:
It determines the cause of urinary frequency, post
prostatectomy urinary incontinence, diagnosis and
determination of treatment options of
Chronic
Prostatitis,
and prostatic hyperplasia.
In women
It determines the cause of urinary
incontinence and as a result it is helpful in the
treatment planning (surgical or conservative).
Especially its role is crucial determining the condition
after failed surgical intervention for urinary
incontinence. In women suffering from
recurrent urinary
tracts infection, from urinary frequency, or painful
urination Urodynamics is very helpful in the final
decision making.
In children
In children suffering from
nocturnal enuresis,
recurrent urinary tract infections, urinary frequency,
vesicoureteral reflux etc, the laboratory of Urodynamics
offers not only fundamental diagnostic, but also unique
therapeutic possibilities using special Biofeedback
equipment.
In people with special needs
It is very useful in classification
of Neurogenic Bladder disorders, with important impact
in protection of renal function, in prevention of
urinary tract infections and urine incontinence, and in
guiding the proper use of intermittent self
catheterization.
Especially our fellowmen that suffer
from multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular accidents,
spinal cord trauma, and in general from any neurological
problem associated with urological problems, will be
helped considerably from the
Neurophysiologic examination
of the urogenital system.
